HIV Home Test Kits Review

There are more than a dozen different HIV Home Test Kits being advertised on the market today. Some are very good, some are fakes others have a limited accuracy/sensivity and some of them are not available as a Home Test Kit to purchase.

It's sometimes hard to find the HIV Test Kid which fits best to you. That's why Aidsgame.com gives you here a complete HIV home test review about all major HIV Test Kits available today.

Be also aware that some HIV Test Kit vendors tell you that only HIV Test Kit's approved by the FDA are reliable. This is a compelling sales strategy, but it is not true at all. FDA approval cost tons of money, thats why certain home HIV test are not FDA approved but still work.

You can get HIV tested for free in any national hospital for free. If you do not have time to go there, an Home HIV Test makes good sense.

Aidsgame.com tested different HIV Home Test Kits. By "testing" we mean, that we

  • asked the vendors and asked to send us their HIV Test Kit
  • got manufacturer info
  • used the test's on HIV negative and HIV positive people

According to our research we gave the test "Approval Status" or not. There are some tests still pending for approval. So please come back once in a while and keep yourself updated. Watch out for these signs

  •
"Approved" "Not Approved" is our own recommendation at ADISGame.com. It does not mean that the test is a fake, but we don't have enoug info about it.

Rating:

Home Access test system is FDA approved and legally marketed in the United States.

This approved system uses a simple finger prick process for home blood collection which results in dried blood spots on special paper. The dried blood spots are mailed to a laboratory with a confidential and anonymous personal identification number (PIN), and analyzed by trained clinicians in a certified medical laboratory using the same procedures that are used for samples taken in a doctor's office. The results are obtained by the purchaser through a toll free telephone number using the PIN, and post-test counseling is provided by telephone when results are obtained.

This approved HIV test systems, has undergone extensive study and review by the manufacturer of the product to ensure that they work, that the results they provide are specific, meaning that they will accurately detect antibodies to the HIV-1 virus that causes AIDS. The test kit are sensitive, meaning that they can detect even low levels of these antibodies, indicating that someone has been exposed to HIV-1.

Clinical studies have shown that this approved HIV test system is able to correctly identify 100% of known positive blood samples, and 99.5% of HIV-1 negative blood samples.

In addition, manufacturer's tests on the approved HIV test system have been carefully reviewed by the FDAto assure that the tests conducted were themselves adequate to demonstrate that the system is capable of yielding accurate, dependable results. FDA review also assures that the system contains adequate directions for proper use, and that the quality standards will be monitored to ensure that each kit is as consistently accurate and sensitive.

This approved HIV test system has a built in mechanism for pre-and post-test counseling provided by the manufacturer. Counseling is an important part of the HIV testing. It is anonymous and confidential. Counseling, which uses both printed material, and telephone interaction, not only provides the user with an interpretation of what positive or negative results really mean, but provides information on how to keep from getting infected if you are negative, and how to prevent transmission of disease if you find you are infected. Counseling also provides you with information about treatment options if you are infected, and can even provide referrals to doctors that treat HIV-infected individuals in your area.

Since the approved HIV home test system has been independently tested, validated, and approved by the FDA for marketing, the consumer can feel confident that the approved HIV test system will provide the most accurate results available from an HIV-1 home test. In addition, the user is provided with counseling and referrals if needed. Use of an approved HIV test system also assures that accurate numbers of infection are reported to public health departments so that adequate services can be provided.

Unkown HIV Home Test Kits

Watch out for dubious HIV Test Kits!

There are many dubious HIV Test Kits found on the Internet. These fake AIDS HIV Test Kids always show a nagative HIV result even the test person is HIV positive.

We also belive that there are also different fake HIV Test Kits.

  • 100% fake, which means that these test kids never show any result. The package description tells the user that if no red point (etc) appears you are HIV negativ. And of course nothing show up because you are just dropping water on white paper stick.
  • Test Kids which are not made for HIV Tests, but for another test purpose. (can be sold for a higher price)
  • not accurate enough.

The main problem with these HIV Home Test Kits is that the manufacturer is unknown. We contacted all of the vendors but didnft get enough information about the product. Some of them never even replied.

We do not recommend you to purchase these Kits. We will keep this list updated as soon we get more information from the vendors.

A U.S. District Court has issued a Temporary Restraining Order to halt U.S. sales of a HIV/AIDS home test kit.

The Federal Trade Commission filed a complaint alleging that the kitfs marketer deceptively advertised that its results were 99.4 percent accurate, and was advertising and selling the kits in the United States in violation of federal laws.

Judge Robert S. Lasnik ordered a temporary bar on the advertising and distribution of the kits in the United States, and ordered that any kits that are imported into the United States be seized. The FTC will seek a permanent ban on the advertising and sale of the defective kits.

According to the FTC complaint, Seville Marketing, Ltd., a British Columbia, Canada, corporation, and its principal, Gregory Stephen Wong, have marketed and sold the gDiscreeth HIV home test kit from Web sites aidshivtest.com and discreettest.com. The kits cost $29.95.

Advertising on the Web sites makes claims such as gOver the past two years wefve had three independent studies done on Discreet and our 99.4% accuracy rate is based upon these studies.h

On behalf of the FTC, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention tested the accuracy of the kits. Results of the testing, based on the package instructions, gchanged dramaticallyh during the 15 minutes that the results were reported. After three minutes, 15.4 percent of the kits gave erroneous readings; after 8 minutes, 29.6 percent registered inaccurate results; after 15 minutes, 59.3 percent of the kits gave inaccurate results. Moreover, the kits showed both inaccurate HIV-positive results and inaccurate HIV-negative results.

Any consumer who has previously relied upon the results of a Discreet HIV home test kit should see a health professional and take another test to determine his or her HIV status.

In documents filed with the court, the FTC notes that the Discreet kits cannot legally be sold in the United States because the defendants have neither requested nor received approval from the Food and Drug Administration to sell what qualifies as a gdiagnostich instrument under the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.
